Biometric Devices: Fingerprint Reader

Biometric devices have the basic function of recognizing an individual based on physical characteristics. Over the years tones of biometric devices have emerged. We will be looking more in depth at the Fingerprint Reader.
The Fingerprint Reader is a scanner that is used to identify a person's fingertip, mainly for security reasons. Fingerprintss have been recognized as a persons own id card, in the sens that each fingerprint can be associated to one person only.
Basically the scanner generates an image of the ridges and valleys that make up the fingertip, and than through a series of processes and analysis is able to match the fingertip to one previously entered in the system.
This fingerprint acts as an addition, or even a replacement, to traditional passwords. It is harder to replicate since the reader requires an actual fingertip and not just picture or scan of one.
