Fingerprint Readers Replacing other Information Technologies

Fingertip readers have been issued on the market to help compensate for the weaknesses of the other information technologies already available.
Like mentioned previously, fingertip scanners are part of biometric devices, known for using human features (such as optics) as recognition variables.

Fingertip readers have helped enhance security in a variety of ways. First of all it comes as a replacement, or enforcer, to the traditional password. Key cards, that can be easily copied since they use a bar-code recognition system can be also replaced by a fingerprint scanner.
Another simple use of the fingerprint scanner is for safes or jewelery boxes. Instead of using a lock, key or password, manufactures are now considering more and more the use of this new IT.

Fingerprint scanners can also be used to replace keys. Instead of having different set of keys, house, office etc, the scanner may come as a good alternative. One of the many advantages is that security will be greatly enhanced since there can be no replication of the key!
